# What is Capability Overhang?

The gap between what models can already do and what products expose to users. Closing it is often product work, such as a new interface, workflow or permission, rather than waiting for a better model.

## In real work

The model could already draft a full migration plan, but the product only offered one-line hints, a capability overhang the PM closed with a plan review screen.
