# What is Deepfake?

A fake video, photo or voice recording made with AI to look or sound like a real person. Scammers can clone a voice from a short clip and call family members asking for money.

After a neighbor got a deepfake call in her grandson's voice asking for bail money, the Nguyen family picked a code word for real emergencies.
