# What is SaaS?

Software as a Service. Software you use in a web browser or app and pay for by subscription, while the company that makes it runs and updates it for you.

## In real work

Nearly every tool the two-person startup uses is SaaS, from Slack for chat to Vercel for putting its website online, all run and updated by the companies behind them.

## How is this different from Googling it?

Google gives a definition. Prompthaus pairs each term with how it shows up in standups, PRs, prompts, and design reviews. Then it quizzes you until the word sticks. One term a day on iPhone.
