# What is Seed?

The number that starts a generation's randomness. Reuse it with the same prompt, model and settings to get the same result back; change it and you get a fresh variation.

## In real work

Variation three won the room, so the designer logged its seed with the prompt and settings, and a month later regenerated the same frame for the retoucher.
